Driving and taking your exam in Assen
Assen offers calm, easy-to-read traffic, ideal for building solid driving skills without big-city hectic. Still, the exam routes hold plenty of challenge: the busy connections to the A28, the N33 towards Rolde and Gieten, and the roundabouts around the city test merging, speed choice and giving way under time pressure.
The country roads are typically Drenthe: brick paving, rows of trees running tight along the carriageway, and agricultural traffic that can pull onto the road unexpectedly. Narrow profiles force careful positioning and calm overtaking. In newer districts such as Kloosterveen, you’ll instead find modern roundabouts and cycle streets where the car is a guest.
For one week a year, Assen is anything but a quiet city: around the TT, the region fills up with motorcycles and visitors, and temporary traffic measures apply. Instructors from the region know this and plan around it. The rest of the year, Assen is a pleasant, straightforward exam city where the fundamentals are properly tested.
For driving instructors in and around Assen, from Beilen to Vries and Rolde, we book exams at the CBR location in Assen. One fixed price per exam, fast and suitable dates, and if illness or delay strikes, we arrange the rescheduling.
