Driving and taking your exam in Arnhem
Arnhem is one of the few exam cities with real hills: the city sits against the ice-pushed ridge of the Veluwezoom. Roads such as the Apeldoornseweg climb out of the city, and anyone pulling away on a residential street on the northern slope naturally performs a hill start. Balancing the clutch, throttle and handbrake is not a formality here but everyday practice.
Arnhem is also the only city in the Netherlands with trolleybuses. They run on fixed routes through the centre and the neighbourhoods, and students need to learn to account for them just as they would trams elsewhere. The ring roads around the city centre, the John Frost Bridge and the Nelson Mandela Bridge over the Nederrijn, and the connections to the A12, A50 and A325 at the Velperbroek interchange all call for smooth merging and good lane choice.
The surrounding area makes the routes even more varied. North of the city lie the woods and avenues of the Veluwezoom towards Velp and Oosterbeek, while to the south the flat river landscape of the Betuwe begins towards Elst and Huissen. Within just a few kilometres, the road picture changes completely, and students notice it during their exam.
The CBR has two exam locations in Arnhem. We book at both, switch if another location or date fits better, and keep you informed. For instructors from Arnhem, the Liemers and the Betuwe: you teach, we handle the office work.
