Driving and taking your exam in Alkmaar
Driving around Alkmaar means switching between the historic city centre and the open North Holland polder. Within the canal ring you’ll find canals, narrow one-way streets, and bridges where cyclists and pedestrians set the pace. In summer, tourist traffic around the cheese market adds to the mix, with coaches and visitors looking for their way around the centre.
Outside the city, the picture changes completely. The N242 towards Heerhugowaard and the N9 are busy provincial roads with roundabouts and grade-separated junctions, while the polder roads towards the Schermer are narrow and exposed to the wind. Here, students learn to handle both urban traffic and higher speeds combined with crosswinds.
On fine days there’s another factor: beach traffic heading to Egmond and Bergen. The approach roads to the coast fill up, and queuing suddenly becomes part of the exam. Instructors from the region know this dynamic and build it into their lessons.
For instructors from Alkmaar, Heiloo, Castricum, Bergen and Dijk en Waard, we book exams at the CBR location in Alkmaar on dates that match the student’s level. This keeps the flow in your schedule and means you won’t lose students to long waiting times.
