Driving and taking your exam in Den Helder
Den Helder is North Holland’s northernmost exam location, and you notice it in everything. Open dike and polder roads where crosswind is a real factor, long straight stretches through the Koegras polder, and the N9 and N250 as the main through-routes. Traffic is relatively calm, but conditions demand stable vehicle control.
The city also has a rhythm of its own: traffic ebbs and flows with the naval harbour and the TESO ferry to Texel. Around each departure, a stream of cars moves through the city towards the ferry terminal, then fades away again. Students here learn to plan for and anticipate busy periods that come and go at fixed times.
Outside the city lie Julianadorp and the seaside resorts along the coast, which can get busy in season with beach traffic and cycling tourists. Towards Anna Paulowna and Schagen, the routes run through bulb fields and open polder, a beautiful but distracting backdrop in spring.
Instructors in the Kop van Noord-Holland leave their exam bookings to us. We book with the CBR in Den Helder and arrange rescheduling whenever the weather or the planning gets in the way.
