Driving and taking your exam in Amsterdam
For many students, Amsterdam is the toughest exam environment in the Netherlands. Trams with right of way, cyclists approaching from every direction, narrow one-way canal streets, taxis, delivery vans and coaches: it demands mature observation and a calm approach behind the wheel. Many streets in the city also have a 30 km/h limit, which makes managing your speed and recognising zone signs a standard part of the exam.
The A10 ring road is the other side of the Amsterdam exam. Short merging lanes, busy, constantly shifting traffic and the s-routes connecting the neighbourhoods to the ring test whether a student can merge in and out smoothly and confidently. In between lie large intersections with multiple lanes, bus lanes and cyclist crossings, where a single moment of poor observation is punished immediately.
Every route here looks different: the narrow streets of West, the spacious avenues of Nieuw-West, the bustle around the stations, and residential areas where children playing and parked cars shape the picture. Whoever passes their exam in Amsterdam can drive anywhere. That makes the city tough on the student, but also one of the best driving schools there is.
This is exactly where a suitable exam date matters: you don’t want a student who’s ready to wait weeks. Rijschool L books, swaps and reschedules exams at the CBR location in Amsterdam for instructors from every district and the surrounding municipalities such as Amstelveen, Diemen and Badhoevedorp. You focus on the lesson, we handle the office work.
